Statutory audit is the audit of an entity's financial statements that is required by law. The objective is to express an independent opinion on whether the financial statements give a true and fair view, in conformity with the applicable financial reporting framework.
Statutory audits are conducted in accordance with the Standards on Auditing (SAs) issued by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), and reporting is governed by the Companies Act, 2013, the Companies (Audit and Auditors) Rules, 2014, and CARO 2020.
